Picosure Laser
PicoSure is one of the best treatments for pigmentation because it uses ultra-fast picosecond technology to shatter pigment into tiny particles without excessive heat damage to the surrounding skin. This makes it highly effective for sun spots, freckles, and stubborn pigmentation while reducing the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in Asian and darker skin types. It also stimulates collagen, improving overall skin clarity with minimal downtime.

What does Picosure treat?
Pre and Post Pico Treatment Care
PRE-TREATMENT CARE
-
Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before treatment. Use SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.
-
Discontinue Certain Skincare Products: Stop using retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, hydroquinone, and other strong exfoliants at least 5 days before treatment.
-
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated for optimal healing.
-
No Blood Thinners/Photosensitive antibiotics: Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and alcohol for 48 hours before your appointment to reduce bruising risk. Consult your doctor if you are on blood-thinning medication. Avoid photosensitive medication such as Doxycycline for a week before laser.
-
Inform Your Provider: Let us know about any history of cold sores, active skin infections, or recent cosmetic procedures.
-
Use a Tyrosinase Inhibitor: To prevent hyperpigmentation, start using a tyrosinase inhibitor at least 2 weeks before treatment as recommended by your provider.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
-
Redness & Swelling: Mild redness and swelling are normal and should subside within 24–48 hours. If you experience itchiness or small bumps, this may be a mild histamine response. It can usually be managed with an antihistamine such as Telfast (Fexofenadine).
-
Keep Skin Cool & Hydrated: Apply a cold compress (not directly on the skin) and use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer.
-
Avoid Heat & Sweat: No hot showers, saunas, strenuous exercise, or sun exposure for 48 hours.
-
Do Not Pick or Scrub: Allow your skin to heal naturally. Avoid exfoliants, scrubs, or harsh chemicals for at least one week.
-
Use Gentle Skincare: Stick to mild cleansers and fragrance-free moisturizers. Avoid retinoids and acids for at least 5-7 days.
-
Use a Tyrosinase Inhibitor: Continue using a tyrosinase inhibitor post-treatment to prevent hyperpigmentation as directed by your provider.
-
Sun Protection is Key: Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure to prevent pigmentation issues.
-
Minor darkening of treated areas (if targeting pigmentation) may occur before they flake off in 5-7 days.
-
Follow-Up Treatments: Depending on your skin concerns, multiple sessions may be needed for best results. Follow your provider’s recommendations for scheduling.
